EXTRA EQUIPMENT: Shawani’s dancing attire leave little room to store extra gear. The only item(s) of note are the chime-like decorations hanging from the broach on her hip - They are actually dust canisters that are used as 'ammo' for her weapon's special abilities.

SEMBLANCE: “Chorus of Golden Wings”
- Shawani can ‘summon’ a flock of small sparrow-like birds. These ‘summonings’ appear to be made of golden light and are completely incorporeal in nature unable to harm anything, but completely immune to harm themselves. Shawani can ‘direct’ the flock to swarm a target of her choosing, the little birds get in the targets face, chirp incessantly, and generally make a nuisance of themselves, distracting the target. Shawani can direct the flock to distract multiple targets at once, but the more targets there are, the less effective the ability is. There is apparently a physiological element to this ability, as while the swarm is annoying, it is not so to the point of explaining the apparent ‘compulsion’ of those affected to  focus on it rather than their surrounds.

BACKGROUND:
Born into a nomadic group of ‘travellers’ hailing from the outer-Vacuo deserts, Shawani had a very unusual early life by ‘modern’ standards… The group was driven by tradition, superstition, and a decidedly strong independent streak. This belief that they owed no loyalty to any but their own would often lead to conflicts with landowners and even the Vacuo government. It was once such ‘conflict’ that drove them to temporarily seek asylum across the border in Vale.

It was during this time that a young Shawani was first exposed to Huntsmen and Huntresses, for during her peoples stay in Vale, they repaid Vale’s hospitality by putting on a ‘circus’. For while independent, they were not inhospitable, and took great pleasure in sharing their traditional performances with any who were willing to welcome them. This event was attended by a number of students and staff from Beacon, who in turn showed the travellers many of their own traditions of weapon-smithing and martial arts.

They would leave Vale with a new found respect for the ‘ways of settled folk’, and would quickly combine much of what they had learned with their traditions to create new arts. Traditional dances became training for unique acrobatic combat arts. Weapon smithing was combined with jewellery-making to create weapons as deadly as they were beautiful… And none was more influenced than Shawani…

Time would pass and Shawani would be at the fore-front of her people’s rapid innovation, always eager to ‘push the envelope’ yet further. And so it was that at the age of 15, the Travellers would set out for Vale once more, so that Shawani could the first of her people to attend one of the great academies… The first of her people to become a Huntress!

Beacon would be a fortuitous choice, for while Vacuo’s ‘Shade’ was closer, it was not run by a man who was already acquainted with the Travellers and their ways, a man who prided his school on accepting people from all walks of life. Thus it was that Shawani, while finding Beacon and Vale to host a vastly different lifestyle to what she was used to, also found it to be singularly adaptable to making strangers feel welcomed and valued. A place where she could find herself part of a team that provided her with a sense of belonging that she didn’t think possible outside of her own people…

As the years passed, Shawani would grow ever stronger as a part of team ICCS, she would watch as others of her people would arrive in turn to follow her example. And she would come to find an even closer bond with her team-mate Coyote - A faunus, and a giant of a man, but caring and more accepting of her traditions than any other.
