“There is no greater loss, than the loss of Knowledge…”

NAME: Bretta Concilia - jonarus-drakus.deviantart.com/…
- Named in reference to the Latin 'Concilium' Dyes, made from shellfish.
NICK-NAMES: "The Water of Life", "Daughter of the Sea"
RACE & GENDER: Human Female.
COLOUR(s): Light-blue, Purple, Dark-blue - the colours associated with the dyes from which she derives her name.
SYMBOL: A stylized shell
AGE: 17 - first year HEIGHT: 5’4”
INSPIRATION: Minerva - Major Roman Goddess of, amongst other things: Wisdom, medicine, weaving, and strategy (Referencing Bretta’s love of books, and the fact that she’s the ‘team healer’) - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minerva
TEAM ROLE: Healer, ranged support DPS.

WEAPON(s): "Gelus Duplex" ("Cold Double") - A matching pair of Shotgun-Tonfa that can be joined together to make a short 'quaterstaff' type weapon (See the character image).
In 'tonfa' mode, they fire in semi-automatic from a single large Ice-dust 'reservoir' that is reloaded through the muzzle and can provide 20 'rounds' each. In 'Quarterstaff' mode, ranged fire is disabled, with the normal triggers being replaced by 'impact triggers' which mean that when in this mode, rounds are only discharged as a result of melee blows.
In both case, the use of Ice dust reduces the direct damage, but also enhances them with a localised freezing effect which can temporarily encumber limbs or disable weapons.
ATTIRE: Bretta a wears a robe-like, waist-length, sleeveless shirt over figure hugging shorts and leg-bands. Her shoes are mid-heeled dress shoes. The only 'armour' she wears are her bracers, which are cloth with attached metal-trimmed hard leather panels.
It is worth noting that given her sheltered up-bringing, Bretta does NOT dress for the attention and/or approval of others *at all*. He choices in attire are thus based solely on her own likes and comforts.
ADDITIONAL STANDARD EQUIPMENT: A water-bottle pre-infused with her aura (as per her semblance). This is done pre-mission, so that she doesn't have to 'drain' her aura by doing so in battle unless she needs more than what the bottle holds. To supplement her aura-based healing abilities, she also carries a 'mundane' first-aid kit (or has Markus carry it for her :P ), and she is well versed in a wide variety of first-aid skills - enough to allow her to stabilize even serious injuries until the victim can be rescued and hospitalised.
She also carries a well maintained but 'well used' copy of the book: "The Varieties of Grimm: A guide to identifying and understanding the Creatures of Grimm" - Bretta has 'annotated' the book heavily, adding a multitude of notes based on her own experiences and observations.

AURA COLOUR: Aqua-blue - Manifesting as a faint swirling mist.
AURA MANIPULATION: Bretta isn't much of a fighter, but it would be foolish to assume that that mean her aura is 'weak' - Far from it, Bretta was well versed in Aura theory (from all her reading) before she had even unlocked hers! As such, she very well versed in Aura, its nature, and it applications (more than many fully qualified Huntsmen in fact). She can make use of all the 'standard' techniques to level that would be expected, with her only weakness being her lack of practical experience, which means sometimes she might mess up the execution when under stress (though only rarely, and only if she's to the point of panic or taken by surprise). Beyond the standard skills, Bretta is well-read (and practiced) in utilizing her Aura to assist in first-aid healing techniques, which in turn allows her to get the best results out of her semblance.
DUST MANIPULATION: Like with the subject of Aura, Dust is one in which Bretta is well read but lacking practical experience. Her experience thus-far has been limited to what usage is required for weapons only. It is however an area in which she has a great deal of interest - as such she will quite likely expand her skill-set as time goes by.
SEMBLANCE: "Aqua Vitae" ("Water of Life")
Bretta can 'imbue' her aura into water, allowing her to manipulate and control it ((like a water-bender almost)). She can also use it as a 'transfer medium' to transfer her aura to other people, recharging and healing them. This can be done directly by simply applying the water to the target, which is quicker but less effective. Or, the target can drink the water, which takes interaction on their part, but results in a much higher 'boost'. This 'aura transfer' happen automatically, so it is normally only useful if used on friendlies...
However, she has developed *one* purely offensive use - When throwing one of her 'water balls', she pulls her Aura back out of it at the last second, relinquishing control over it and causing it to become a 'spray' that soaks the clothing (or 'fur' in the case of Grimm) of the affected target. While this is little more than an annoyance by itself, it does leave the target more vulnerable to a follow-up Ice attack from Bretta's weapons - The effects of which are amplified thanks to the 'spreading influence' of the water.

PHYSICALITY: Bretta was never a very 'physical' person, having always preferred to stay indoors reading to getting out and exercising. She is very careful about her diet however, fearing the idea of 'getting fat'. This has resulted in a small-framed but pretty girl lacking in obvious muscle definition. She is well aware of her inherent weakness however, and has taken steps to compensate for this in less direct ways (Str: 2/10).
Her small frade does, however, lead itself to a fair degree of 'springy' agility however, and Bretta is only to willing to use this and her small size to hide herself and to sneak through gaps in which others would get stuck (Agility: 6/10).
Bretta is a life-long book-worm, and has eyesight to suit. She can see fine up close, and her long-distance vision is 'workable', so she is not quite to the point of needing glasses, but her vision is not '20/20' either. She is particularly sensitive to sudden and/or extreme changes in lighting conditions. Despite all this, she does have a fair degree of intelligence-driven situational awareness (perception: 5/10)
Bretta's small frame and lack of muscle mass do leave her lacking in endurance as well, though she compensates for this by using her agility to avoid or deflect blows, rather than trying to absorb them (Endurance: 4/10)
HANDEDNESS: Bretta has always been naturally ambidextrous, though she has only recently begun training to use it to full effect in combat situations.

MARTIAL/COMBAT ARTS: Well aware of her physical weakness, Bretta has made a point to focus her combat training defensively, favouring a flowing, acrobatic martial form that almost looks like dancing (Mix of Capoeira and low-level Karate), justifying this focus with the statement: 'When I flow like a river, my opponents blows are washed away.'
With her weapons, she is a little more basic - simply adding the tonfa mode to her un-armed moves. In staff mode she uses free-form bojutsu moves.
Her ranged combat is limited to sort-to-mid ranges both due to her weak distance vision and the 'shotgun' nature of her weapons.

ADDITIONAL APPEARANCE NOTES: Her hair is a plain 'mid brown' naturally, but she dyes it purple because: "It suits me better this way!"
Her eyes are an aqua-blue tone that matches her aura almost perfectly.

INTELLECT AND MENTALITY: Bretta is a naturally intelligent girl, to the point of being a rival to Erin in raw IQ (Raw Int: 8/10). This is supported by a voracious appetite for reading - She would not be bragging to proclaim that she had read almost every book to be found in Vale!
However, this does also limit her somewhat, as her tendency to focus on the immediate task leaves her less able to adapt to rapidly changing conditions. If you need a well developed 'plan', she's your girl, just don't expect her to react well to a sudden emergency (applied Int: 6/10).

COMBAT TACTICS: Bretta's prefered 'tactic' is to avoid combat entirely... But when it is forced on her she falls back on her martial arts.
When solo, this means keeping the enemy at arm's length - dodging blows and throwing them off in order to escape and re-gain distance, all with the intent of buying time until help can arrive.
When fighting with others (team EMBR especially), she makes a point to stick close to the toughest, most melee focused person she can find (Markus). This is both keep an extra fighter between her and melee combat, and so that she can support said fighter with ranged attacks and, if required, healing.

PERSONALITY: Happy, friendly, and helpful, Bretta is everyone's best friend (Even Erin can't help but manage a smile at Bretta's boundless optimism). However, she is 'innocent' to the point of naivety... This is surprising to some as she is clearly very intelligent and has a thirst for knowledge (and reading in general) that verges on the obsessive...

LIKED TRAITS: Curiosity, thoughtfulness, empathy
DISLIKED TRAITS: Ignorance, Thoughtlessness, cynicism

FAVORITE FOOD/DRINK: Blueberries/blueberry milkshakes.
FAVORITE COLOUR: Aqua blue.
FAVORITE MUSIC GENRE: Bretta has no real 'favorite' kind of music, only wanting something that is 'soft' and non-intrusive, so she can listen to it while reading.
HOBBIES: Socializing, Sewing (She's really very good), helping others (sometimes this gets abused by people who just use her to fix their clothes/etc), swimming, reading. Observing (but not fighting) Grimm.
SEXUALITY: When it comes to romance and the like, Bretta is somewhat... naive... If directly asked 'who she likes', she will blush furiously, fidget, and mutter something along the lines of: "Boys... I guess..."

BACKGROUND: The only child of a book-store owner father, and surgeon mother, who had her relatively late in their lives. Bretta’s childhood was spent either in the library at the schools she attended, or in her father’s shop… Always nose-first in some huge reference tome or fantasy novel. Her mother tried to encourage Bretta to learn about medicine, but was largely unsuccessful until Bretta’s final year of training a Signal Academy when her Semblance first manifested itself…(She was mostly attending Signal because she wanted to get access to their library of books on the creatures of Grimm, though to say that the request to go there came as a surprise to her parents would be an understatement! Bretta herself justified the request by stating that while she had no real interest in the combat classes, the school did cater to *some* more theoretical studies, and that having an education there to her name would make further education in ANY field much easier to get access to.)

Suddenly bolstered with a rare and useful ability, Bretta jumped at the chance to study everything about first-aid and aura-healing her parents could provide her. She also re-doubled her efforts in her combat classes, deciding that her ability was a sign that she was supposed to help people on a larger scale by becoming a Huntress.

However… Bretta has lead a sheltered and uneventful life thus far, and it remains to be seen whether her training and intelligence will be enough to allow her to cope with the rigors of the life of a warrior…
Another 'extended version' of the character sheets I wrote for my RWBY OCs, this time, the third member of team EMBR: Bretta.

Do you mind if I give a try at Bretta?

The Good:
I really love her semblance, and firmly believe that there should be more support based characters out there. It is both interesting and useful, but I would mostly note that we have seen evidence of semblances growing through out the series. Just maybe give a little note on how it could possibly grow, to tease at the direction that the character is growing. I also like the other equipment she carries around, especially the additions that she has made to the Grimm field guide.

The bad:
Her weapon choice and roles do not match up, with her being listed as a ranged DPS as secondary, but everything else doesn't match up with this. I might actually say to change her weapons, also considering that she is stated to be weaker and wants to keep out of battles, so perhaps a weapon that allows her to do that would be better. Fighting close range takes a great deal of physical effort. With Minerva being a goddess of wisdom and medicine, but also a warrior goddess, either amping up her strength or changing her weapon to something that makes a bit more sense could work. The staff portion makes sense, so maybe have something that works more with that, also renforcing the more strategy/mage vibe that she seems to give off. (My low strength, high "magic" character uses a spear/sniper), and spears are associated with Athena (Minerva's Greek counterpart) as well as certain types of fishing (helping with the water theme as well). This is especially important as I assume she is attending Beacon, Remenats premier combat school.

The Kinda Bland:
Overall however, there isn't really much going for or against Bretta. Admittedly, I create much longer profiles, but this seems like there just isn't very much going on. There is no reason given for her to have been going to a Hunters school like Signal, especially if she was interested in more theoretical fields than the actual practice of things, before she found out that she had this rare semblance. Her personality is kind of bland, with there being plenty of naive but brilliant characters, but she isn't even allowed to be the smartest on her team. The entire profile reads like you want her to be this really great support member, but without actually letting her be really good at the things that could make her a unique character. The only other character we have seen with "advanced aura techniques" has been Ren, a mostly average student, so there is no real reason she shouldn't be able to complete them too. Perhaps still have them a bit shaky at times, but you say she's better at them than many fully fledged hunters. If you explain them well enough, and maybe she practiced all the time in the library, or while she was studying, it could help make sense as to why the low combat character was accepted into the highest combat school.

Overall, she is great, but it seems to me like a work in progress. There is nothing wrong with that, but don't be afraid to let her actually be good at something that she's actually good at.
Please feel free to ask me about my analysis, and I hope it can help!!!
